S D M College of Ayurveda & Hospital was established in 1992 in the
city internationally known for Hoysala sculptures. The president of SDM
Educational Society, Ujire, Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade with the vision of
revitalising the age old Indian Health Heritage has developed an aesthetic
green Ayurveda Campus on the principles of Ayurveda blended with modern
technological innovations at par with international standards with a strong base
for quality Ayurveda education.
Over the years, the Institute has reached such heights that today; it is
a pioneer Indian Medical Health Care and Educational Institute which is a role
model to other private and Government organizations. The Institution continuously
monitors and assures the internal quality of Ayurveda education and health care
through a core committee comprising of visionaries.
The Institution provides under graduation education in Ayurveda for 5 ½
years after 10+2 pre University education. 93 specialists in three surgical and
13 medical disciplines are gifted to the society every year to serve mankind.
The teaching Hospital serenely placed in the vicinity of the Western
Ghats provides practical and clinical knowledge to medical graduates and relief
to the health seekers. The health consultations and assurances are being
provided throughout the day in 16 specialities. To globalise Ayurveda the
Institute has signed Memorandum of Understanding with many International
Universities.
To maintain the quality standards of the Institution and to achieve our
mission and vision, to cater to the ever growing expectations of the health
seekers, our success driven team works consistently to achieve success..
SDM offers a wide variety of medicines in accordance with Ayurveda
treatments. Genuine Ayurveda medicines are well stocked at SDM dispensary. The
on-site location ensures that patients staying with us will have access to the
medications they need. In addition to name-brand medicines from pharmaceutical
companies, SDM Pharmacy produces its own specialty medications in-house.

¨ Magnificent building based on Ayurvedic principles spread over 2, 40,000
Sq. ft. area.
¨ The twin building complex housed all the departments based on Satva Raja
Tama and Vatha Pitta Kapha and Purusha Prakruthi concepts of Indian heritage.
¨ Yearly intake -In total 51 students in post graduation and 75 Students
in under graduation. More than 650 students are exposed to Ayurvedic education
manually.
¨ All the 14 departments are well established as per the standard norms of
Apex body CCIM- New Delhi and Govt. of India.
¨ The scientific and clinical laboratories such as Rachana Shareera (Human
Anatomy), Shareera Kriya ( Human Physiology), Roga Nidana (Pathology), Dravya
Guna (Ayurvedic Pharmacognosy), and Central Research Laboratory are established
to confirm scientific thoughts of Ayurveda.
¨ Physical knowledge of the body is essential to understand disorders.
Hence, the dead body dissection theater and specimen museum is established in
the area of 5000 sq. ft. which attracts not only the students of institution
but also various students of science.
¨ Rasashastra and Bhaishajyakalpana Pharmacy and demonstration laboratory
serves the need of under graduates, post graduates and patients of the
hospital.
¨ Various short term courses are offered to students and health seekers

¨ “Cool mind invents new solutions”- Patanjali Yoga unit provide short
term course for yoga therapy course as well as health to health seekers.
¨ Pancha Karma therapist course for 3 months and 12 months are available
as a step to eradicate unemployment.
¨ Institution regularly organizes ROTP & CME’s for the benefit
of students & Teachers..
¨ The rich cultural heritage and literary wisdom are exposed and practiced
by staff, students and health seekers.
¨ Herbal garden – About 3000 plants of 500 species including rare
medicinal and aromatic plants are available in 15 acres Dhanwanthari Vana.
¨ 55 seated bus facilities is made available for transportation of staff
and students. This facility also serves to outreach clinical, social and
research activities.
