    Under Graduate Course of BAMS - (Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine & Surgery)

    Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B. A. M. S.) provides basic education in the integrated system of modern medicine and traditional ayurveda. It prepares students of profound scholarship in the science of Ayurveda having basic and fundamental knowledge in different subjects of Ayurveda backed up by extensive practical training.

    The program enables a student to become an efficient teacher, a research scholar and a competent Ayurvedic physician and surgeon to be able to contribute his mite in the medical and health services.

    The Under-graduate Degree Course, also known as Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is of 5½ years duration (4½ years of the main course and 1 year internship). The main course is divided into 3 Professional Courses of 1 years duration each & the final or fourth Professional course is of 1.5 years. The admission eligibility & criteria  prescribed by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science; Bangalore is Senior Higher Secondary examination in Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with English as compulsory subject from the recognised board. 
    Imp Note : From academic session 2018 as per the latest notification from Ministry of AYUSH dated 11th June 2018 it is mandatory for applicants to qualify in NEET entrance for BAMS admission for all ayurvedic medical colleges across the country.     The students admitted from Science-Biology stream are taught Sanskrit in the main course.

    The annual admission capacity to BAMS course varies upon the institutions infrastructure, faculty & teaching hospital facility which is approved by CCIM & Ministry of Ayush, New Delhi.

    Admission guidance notification is made on all India level and after few private ayurvedic colleges also conducts an Entrance Test, candidates standing in the highest merits are admitted in the respective Institute.

    1ST PROFESSIONAL (1 Year)

    1.3 KRIYA SHAREERA (Physiology)
    1.4 RACHANA SHAREERA (Anatomy)
    1.5 MAULIK SIDDHANTA EVUM ASTANGA HRIDYA (Basic Principles and Ashtang Hridaya- An ancient text of Ayurveda)

    2ND PROFESSIONAL (1 Year)
    2.1 Dravyaguna vijnana ( Pharmacology and material medica)
    2.2 AGADTANTRA, VYAVAHAR-AYURVED EVUM VIDHIVAIDYAK
    (Toxicology, Forensic Medicine And Medical Jurisprudence)
    2.3 Rasashastra- Bhaishajya kalpana ( Pharmaceutical science)
    2.4 Charaka samhita - purvardha (Ist Half of Anciant text on Ayurveda by Charaka)

    3rd PROFESSIONAL: (1 Year)
    3.1. Roganidana vikriti vijnana (Pathology and Microbiology)
    3.2. Charak samhita- uttarardh (2nd Half of Anciant text on Ayurveda by Charaka)
    3.3. Swasthavritta and yoga ( Preventive and Social Medicine and Yoga )
    4.4. Prasuti and striroga ( Gynaecology and Obstetrics )
    5.5. Balaroga (Paediatrics )

    4th PROFESSIONAL (1.5 Years)
    1. Shalya tantra (General Surgery)
    2. Shalkya  tantra (Diseases of Head and Neck including Ophthalmology, ENT and Dentistry)
    3. Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine – Including manas roga, rasayana & vajikarana)
    4. Panchakarma (A fivefold detoxification treatment involving massage, herbal therapy, and other procedures)
    5. Research methodology & medical-statistics

    COMPULSORY INTERNSHIP (1 Year)

    The student will join compulsory internship programme after passing the final professional
    examination. The internship programme will start after declaration of the result of final professional examination. The period of internship will be one year.

    BAMS Course Brief:
    B.A.M.S degree from a Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Bangalore will awarded to successful completion of 5.5 years course mentioned as aboved & the degree holders will be known as ‘Ayurvedacharya’.  

    The syllabus of this course is a mixture of integrated topics of modern medicine and traditional Ayurveda. Many institutes in India offer the program. Those who have a strong belief in Indian traditional Ayurvedic system.

    Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) is graduate degree awarded after the study of five and a half years duration, including 1-year internship. The curriculum includes studying and teaching of modern anatomy, physiology, pathology & diagnostic procedures, principles of medicine, preventive and social medicine, pharmacology, toxicology, forensic medicine, ENT, gynecology & obstetrics, Ophthalmology, principles of surgery, etc. along with corresponding Ayurvedic subjects such as Rachana Sharira, Kriya Sharira, Dravyuaguna, Svasthavritta and Yoga, Roga Nidana and Vikriti Vijnana, Kaya Chikitsa, Kaumara Bhritya, Prasuti Tantra, Shalya Tantra, Shalakya Tantra etc.
