Established in 1955, AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya holds the objective of Ayurveda and catering the needs of students and society. It was started with a diploma course in Ayurveda; now it has upgraded with Degree Course and now it is having Post Graduate & Ph.D Courses. The institution has 2000 alumies and crowned with 48th ranks.

Affiliation & Approval

The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University. The college is recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, CCIM) New Delhi (the apex body for Ayurvedic education from Govt. of India) since 1991 and follows the syllabus recommended by CCIM, New Delhi.

Courses Offered

The college offers Bachelor of Ayurveda in Medicine and Surgery (B A M S) course of 5 and 1/2 duration. The course has 3 phases with one year compulsory internship.

The college also offers post graduate course with 3 years of duration.

About AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya

The college was previously called as Ayurveda Vidyalaya Samiti which was registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act in 1950 and it made a humble beginning with a membership of 10. The name of the institution was changed to Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in the year 1961. 

A hospital was  started attached to the Vidyalaya with 12 beds and an OPD in 1956. Now, the institution holds 150 bedded well equipped hospital  and wide collection of medicine of Anatomy, pathology,physiology etc.

 The college has 40 teaching members, 14 teaching departments such as department of Samhita, Samkritha and Siddhanta, department of Rachana Sharir ( Anatomy), department of Pancha Karma etc,

Infrastructure and Facilities

The college has a building on 91,526 Sq.yards for play grounded 15 acres for the purpose of the  Institutions.

The in house hospital of the college offers Panchakarma (Five types of Purifictory therapies,   unique to Ayurveda) process along with Special detoxification therapies, oil massage and sudation.

There are departments such as Prasutitantra & Streeroga where all types of women diseases get cured. There is also a Kaumarabhritya department where all children's’ diseases and malnutrition are cured.

The college conducts lots of conference, event, seminars etc where lots of honourable guests are presented and students take an active participation.
