Sanghss Ilkal is one of the premiers Institution of Ayurveda in the North
Karnatka, with a view of giving knowledge of Ayurveda to the rural part of
Karnataka. It was established in 1992. Earlier it was affiliated to Karnataka
University, then to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore in
1996. Since then the intake capacity of student increased from 30 to 50, and
college & hospital are well organized on the basis of the rules &
regulation according to C.C.I.M. New Delhi.
The college has
developed the unique hospital i.e. R.P.K. Ayurvedic Hospital with all the basic
needs and infrastructure besides incorporating the modern contemporary
techniques for clinical evaluation and medical managements,After due
inspection, both by Karnataka University and Central Council of Indian
Medicine, New Delhi, the college and hospital were granted recognition by
C.C.I.M., New Delhi in the year 1992. Further R.G.U.H.S. came into existence
1996 and all the medical institution of Karnataka state were brought under the
R.G.U.H.S. for affiliation. Without any interruption the University and the
apex body continuously recognize our college.
It has
Well-experienced and qualified teaching staff, Physicians and Para medical
staff. Due to their efforts our students bagged third rank in 1993 and 1996 and
first rank in the year 1999 respectively from Karnataka University, Dharwad.
It provides a
well-planned boys hostel, which comprises spacious, clean and well ventilated
rooms that can accommodate about 200 students. The surrounds are serene and
clean.
The ladies
hostel designed to keep in mind, the needs of young girls. The hostel can
accommodate 150 students with ample privacy in a safe and clean environment.
The hostel has clean organized mess facility, which is managed by students on
sharing basis.
To meet the
need of constant experiments an case studies, a well equipped ultra modern
laboratory has been established which is unique among all the other Ayurvedic
Colleges of the State. Qualified laboratory staff is always available to
provide proper assistance and guidance to the students. The students become
well versed with the up to date knowledge of all the newly invented
physiological, pathological and biochemical tests.
College is
proud to have Anatomical Museum where medical facts relating to human body are
on display. The museum is considered as the biggest museum in any Ayurvedic
Medical College not only in the state of Karnataka but also in through out
India. A collection of over 300 dissected specimens, over 300 models from the
fetus stage to its mature stage and over 10 set of skeletons are all carefully
prepared by the staff and students and displayed in a systematic manner. It is
a veritable bank of visual references.
A high-tech
building as the central library is the excellent assets to our college. The
well-designed, comfortable and serene interior can accommodate over 80 students
and 20 staff.
More than
5,000 valuable books in various fields of medical science are available in
library for students. There are adequate number of journals and magazines,
daily news papers to enrich the knowledge of students. In the peaceful ambience
separate reading rooms for boys, girls and staff are available.
The college
playground is very rare and unique ground in the state of Karnataka, which is
capable of conducting different athletic events. The sport facilities include 8
lanes of 400 meters athletic tracks, well prepared grounds of cricket,
basket-ball, volley ball, Kho-Kho and Indoor game facilities like badminton, Table
Tennis, carom and other.
