SDM College of Ayurveda & Hospital, Udupi was established in 1958 to revive Ayurveda as a modern science. It is an institution that represents the best of traditional knowledge and contemporary excellence, managed by SDME Society ®, Ujire. Padmabhooshana Dr.D.Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala and the President of S.D.M. Educational Society is the inspiration behind the success of the College, with his commitment to human Welfare and Social Development through Education.

Sidramappa Danigond Ayurvedic College and Research centre started with the sole intention of providing quality Ayurvedic Medical Education to produce the physicians and surgeons to serve the humanity in more holistic way. The institution was started in the name of late Shree Sidramappa Shasappa Danigond who was pioneer of the education in the region of in and around the Terdal. Walking in the pathway, laid down by the father, the son Dr. M.S. Danigond the well-known surgeon, pediatrician and educationist dreamt of bringing up the Ayurvedic education to rejuvenate the miraculous treatment of the Ayurvedic remedies to the very people of ours in the rural areas. Being the practicing surgeon, pediatrician and physician in Rural areas since last 25 years, Dr. M.S. Danigond could feel the need of the hour and people. So thought of health for all in more Holistic manner, by integrating the Ancient science with the modern advancement. So founded this institution of Sidramappa S. Danigond Ayurvedic Medical College andPadma Hi-Tech Ayurvedic Hospital and Research Centre. This institution is recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi, Department of AYUSH Government of India and Government of Karnataka and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka.The institution has got highly dedicated and enthusiastic team comprising the experienced teachers whose personal concern towards the students psyche to ignite sparks to achieve their highest potential.Our faculty is not merely facilitators but who become partners in exploration of the potential of each individual student and carve them into complete doctors.The greater infrastructure clubbed with the young and enthusiastic teaching faculties, who have zeal to find their students to excel in all the aspects is what makes us special.It has well filled libraries,separate hostels for boys and girls,canteen,sports,well equipped classrooms,hospitals,and varioys departments.
